Decision speed, measured and trained
What the evidence supports, and what it does not.
Discuss a blockAbout
Decision speed and visual search, measured and trained. I publish what the evidence supports and, just as importantly, what it does not yet.
The protocol
| Weeks 1–2 | Baseline testing | 3 sessions |
| Weeks 3–8 | Training block | 2 a week |
| Week 9 | Retest | Report |
Testing results
How it works
-
Baseline
Three sessions of testing. Decision time, visual search, dual-task performance.
-
A six-week block
Twice a week, sport-specific, built around your actual training load.
-
Retest and report
The same tests, the same conditions. You see the numbers whether they moved or not.
Qualified, insured, checked
Questions
Is any of this actually proven?
Partly. Decision-speed training has reasonable evidence in-domain; transfer to match performance is much weaker and I say so in every report. If you want certainty, this is not the field for it.
How is this different from the brain-training apps?
Those are generic and sell on hope. This is sport-specific, measured against a baseline, and reported honestly including when it fails.
What do I get at the end?
A written report with the raw numbers, the effect sizes, and the papers the protocol is based on.
What people say
She showed us the two protocols that did nothing before selling us the one that did.
She sent me the papers, including the one that contradicted her own protocol. I signed the contract that week.
The first person in this field who told me what the evidence does not support.
