What I can and cannot tell you
Nutrition and health claims are regulated. This page exists so you know what that means for what you read here, and so you can tell the difference between me and an advert.
No food prevents, treats or cures anything
Under EU Regulation 1924/2006 I may not tell you a food or nutrient will prevent, treat or cure a disease, and neither may anybody else. Anyone who does is either uninformed or breaking the law.
Only authorised claims, and only in context
There is a published list of permitted health claims. If I use one, it applies under specific conditions — a quantity, a population — and I will say what they are rather than borrowing the headline.
General information is not advice about you
Everything in the writing section is general. What I say in a consultation is advice, given after an assessment, and the two are not interchangeable.
Where I stop and refer
Disordered eating, clinical conditions, medication interactions, anything needing diagnosis. I write to your doctor rather than improvising, and I tell you I am doing it.
